The local Masonic Lodge #156 of Wilton sponsors an exciting program aimed to promote reading. Bikes for Books is a reading incentive program designed for children in PreK through grade 5. Bikes for Books is very simple. Each student is asked to read as many age appropriate books as they can in a set amount of time. For each book they read (or have read to them for PreK through 1st grade), the student receives an entry form to be filled out and signed by parents. The completed entry form is then put into a box located in the library. The more books they read, the more entry forms they can enter into the drawing. When the program ends, members of the Masonic Lodge will draw the name of 1 boy and 1 girl from each grade at a school assembly. The students whose names are drawn will receive a new bike and helmet to take home. The program usually runs from the beginning of May through the first week of June.
